Brief Review
A sequel to A Quiet Place. Following the first movie, the Abbot family is forced to venture into the outside world. I loved seeing the original in theaters because it was a unique experience with how it used the a lack of sound to build tension. I really enjoyed the novelty of it. Part II also does this, though to a much lesser degree. I enjoyed this movie, but it wasn’t as good as the original in my opinion. If you liked the original, you will like this and if you didn’t, then you probably won’t like this one either. It really is as simple as that. My biggest complaint with A Quiet Place Part II is that it is too similar to the original. Part II feels like they filmed one long movie and just split it into two. I wish they had done something more with this one. I wish they either A) used more flashbacks or B) skipped ahead in time and told a different story. Instead the movie was really just a direct continuation and I felt like I had already seen it. I also wish they explored more of the “those who have survived aren’t worth saving” theme. The concept was intriguing, but the movie only briefly touched on it. The trailers made both the flashbacks and survivor themes seem important to the movie. Unfortunately, neither were very important which was disappointing. Overall, Part II probably never needed to be made, but it doesn’t disappoint at all. If you enjoyed the first one, you will like this one even if it doesn’t quite live up to the novelty of the original.
