Brief Review
Two British soldiers are given an order to deliver a warning to a commander that he is about to walk into a trap. So first things first, the plot of 1917 is basically just them traveling to deliver this message. I recognize that sounds incredibly boring, but this is actually a pretty good movie. Although it could be a little slow at times. I loved how this movie was filmed. It is easily the best part of the movie. It’s like you were there walking right next to them the whole time. You feel like you’re actually on the journey with them. This was a really cool feeling especially when so many movies today have huge action scenes where it is very obvious you’re watching from the outside. 1917 feels very personal as if you were there. I said it could be a little slow, but the movie does have multiple high-intensity scenes interspersed throughout to help break it up. However, the focus of the movie really is how it is filmed. So because of that, you shouldn’t expect this to be an action-packed war movie. Ultimately, I don’t think it reaches the heights of some other great war movies because of the simplistic plot, but this is a good movie. I would recommend it and I would probably watch it again.
