Brief Review
The finale to the newest Star Wars trilogy and the culmination of the greater nine movie Star Wars arc. Clearly you have to at the very least have seen the previous two movies (The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi) to understand this one, so if you haven’t seen them, then this isn’t worth watching. I’d also just totally ignore reviews for this movie and just form your own opinion (I see the irony in this). The truth is, no matter what this movie was like, the enormous Star Wars fan based was never going to be pleased. From a casual Star Wars fan, I thought this was a pretty solid movie. Was The Rise of Skywalker amazing and the perfect ending to everything that is Star Wars? No. But I liked it, it was interesting and it made sense. I really thought they wrapped up everything fairly nicely. Do I wish a few things were different? Sure, of course I do but that doesn’t ruin the movie. The story works and is well paced, not really leaving you bored ever during the movie. There are some really good actions scenes that are very fun to watch. There is even a decent amount of humor. However where this movie shines is in the emotion of it. You are aware that the series is coming to an end and the movie uses this to its advantage. It isn’t a tissue movie where you will be full-blown crying, but there are heartfelt moments that really make this movie better. Overall, don’t listen to the grouchy and vocal minority, this is a solid movie that ended a solid trilogy. I will rewatch all three of them at some point.
