Brief Review
Shortly after his 85 birthday party, a famous crime novelist dies and everyone in the family is a suspect. I really enjoyed Knives Out. It isn’t a perfect movie and can drag a little because the length, but overall it’s really good. It was kind of like watching a movie version of the game Clue. The plot is a little over-the-top and ridiculous at times, but intentionally so. The ridiculousness is actually what makes Knives Out a better murder mystery in my opinion. The comedy adds an extra layer of entertainment while you’re trying to work out the murder for yourself. I can’t say that I have actually seen a ton of murder mysteries, but I assume there aren’t usually as many twists and turns as there is in this one. So as long as you can accept that this isn’t a totally serious murder mystery, I think it is enjoyable. Additionally the cast of this is really strong. There are multiple big name actors who give strong performances and every character has their own little story within the movie. Overall, I would definitely watch this movie again and I think most people would enjoy this one.
