Brief Review
A private detective with Tourette syndrome tries to solve the murder of his longtime partner and mentor. All around Motherless Brooklyn has a much more old-school feel to it. Sure the movie is set in the ‘50s, but beyond that it doesn’t feel like your typical blockbuster movie made today. It has a much more classic movie feel to it. What it lacks in special effects and action, Motherless Brooklyn makes up for in acting. Edward Norton is really amazing in it. The plot/mystery of the movie is also pretty interesting, although it can be pretty convoluted and drag on at times. My only real complaint is that this movie is too long for the pace of it. Because it is a crime/mystery movie without much action, at times I was wondering just how much longer it would go on for. It starts pretty slow but by the end I did enjoy this movie. I also recognize that it isn’t necessarily made for someone like me, so others will probably appreciate it more. If you’re a fan of older movies or really like crime/mystery movies than you will probably love this one, just know it can be slow.
