Brief Review
An astoronaut travels to the edge of the solar system in search of his missing father. Yikes! I expected Ad Astra to be an intellectual space adventure like Intersteller, instead it was a slower, not as intense and more boring version of Gravity. Boy was I disappointed! Let’s start with everything I liked: I have an unlimited movie pass so I didn’t have to pay for it. That’s it, short list. Now what did I not like about it. First, I was struggling to stay awake which is incredibly rare for me with movies. Outside of the opening scene (it started off well!), there was basically nothing in this entire movie that entertained me. I’m not even sure what the movie was about. I know I was fighting to stay awake, but I did not sleep through it. Yet somehow by the end I felt like I had. I watched the entire movie and still felt like I had missed a huge part of the plot. The story just doesn’t really make any sense and none of it is explained (the monkey?! the pirates?! the detour to Mars?!). I’m just going to end this review now as to not continue to angrily rant. Every review that says Ad Astra was good is wrong. This was not good, watch anything else.
If you want a good space movie, try Intersteller or The Martian!
