Brief Review
Inspired by a true story, a group of NYC strippers turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. Hustlers is a movies that I enjoyed and would watch again, but wouldn’t go out of my way to watch again. Realistically I’ll probably watch it someday with my mom. It feels very much like it’s geared toward middle aged women. I also give it some bonus points because it is based on a true story, which definitely makes it more interesting. Outside of it being a true story, Hustlers has a little bit of everything, but doesn’t do any of it really well. It has a few laughs, some touching scenes and some drama to it, but it isn’t hilarious or very emotional or gripping. More than anything it relies on Jennifer Lopez’s star power and the fact it is based on a true story. I do have two complaints about it though. The first is that at times it can feel a little preachy which was kind of annoying. My other issue was that there was never really any conflict or surprise, the story just kind of happened. I know it was based on a true story but they didn’t really do a great job of adding anything or enhancing it. They just kind of told the story. Overall Hustlers has a little bit of everything but doesn’t do any of it great but should entertain you.
