Brief Review
Hobbs & Shaw is a spin-off of the Fast and Furious franchise, Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Shaw (Jason Statham) work together to stop a genetically enhanced mercenary (Idris Elba).
IN ORDER TO ACCURATELY WRITE THIS REVIEW, IT WILL BE ENTIRELY IN CAPS!!!! Alright, I won’t write in caps because that would be annoying, but that is how the movie is. Non-stop action from beginning until the end. So is it a good movie? Well… good is subjective, but I was definitely entertained. I very much enjoyed watching it and had a lot of fun, but it definitely isn’t a great story with great drama or anything like that. You watch this movie solely to see two alpha male actors banter back and forth and to provide cool action sequences. If you enjoy that, then this is a perfect movie. My favorite part of this movie how totally self-aware it is and doesn’t try to be anything other than an over-the-top action movie. In addition to being action packed, it is actually pretty funny as well. Basically all of the humor revolves around the Rock and Jason Statham being stereotypical alpha males and maintaining a constant banter back and forth, but it totally works. All said, this isn’t your typical great movie, and I don’t think it is for everyone, but fans of action movies will definitely enjoy it and it’s a fun way to spend a couple hours if you want to turn your brain off and just enjoy something.
