Brief Review
A remake of the classic Disney animated Lion King movie. A young lion runs away from his pride after his father’s death only to return and reclaim his spot as leader of the pride. First things first, this movie is absolutely beautiful! It is entirely computer animated, however it is done in such a realistic way that it feels like you’re watching a real life animal documentary. It really is amazing. As for the movie itself, it’s basically a shot for shot remake of the original and truthfully doesn’t add much other than the realism. I loved the original animated movie but this one just lacks the magic of the original. With that being said, this movie is totally fine and worth watching. I’m just not sure I will watch it many times like I did the original. I will say that Timon and Pumbaa were by far the highlight of the movie and provided many laughs. James Earl Jones returns as Mufasa and obviously does a great job. On the other hand, I really did not care for Donald Glover as Simba. His voice just felt flat and out of place to me. Overall this is definitely worth watching simply because of how beautiful it is and due to the nostalgia of the original, but I doubt this will be your favorite Disney movie.
