Brief Review
Jean Grey begins to lose control of her powers and the X-Men must decide between saving their friend and saving everyone else. Even though I acknowledge that they are a notch below the Marvel movies, I still have always been a fan of the X-Men movies. Unfortunately, Dark Phoenix was probably my least favorite of the bunch. Not because it is a bad movie, it isn’t, but it is just so forgettable. I’m writing this review 3 days after I saw it and I honestly just don’t remember much about the movie. Almost nothing stands out either good or bad. The biggest issue with Dark Phoenix is that it doesn’t take any risks. It’s a very conservatively made movie and seems like every other average superhero movie. While much of the movie is forgettable, the last scene was actually a pretty cool scene and it was the one saving grace of the movie. Overall, this is a movie you can likely skip unless you’re a huge X-Men fan. Just wait for Marvel to reboot the series in a couple of years and we will probably get a much better version of this exact movie.
