Brief Review
A struggling circus finds new life when a newborn elephant with oversized ears develops the ability to fly. I can’t say the original is one that I remember a lot from my childhood, but for some reason I went into this movie thinking I was going to really enjoy it. Unfortunately that did not turn out to be the case. This movie was just very bland honestly. It is in the typical Tim Burton grey/Gothic style and it just doesn’t work with this movie. It makes the movie feel kind of sad and dark for no real reason. The characters, the story, the setting, it is all pretty forgettable (Dumbo is pretty cute though). The movie just lacks any of the spectacle that make Disney movies exciting. It also gets stuck between being geared towards kids and adults and I don’t think it really connects with either age group. Dumbo isn’t awful but it has nothing exceptional that would make me want to watch it again. It just doesn’t really work that well. If you love the original Dumbo, maybe this is worth a watch, but I wouldn’t really recommend it otherwise.
