Brief Review
A sequel to the original Lego Movie, this one finds our Lego heroes in a rundown world trying to return their city to its former glory. Similar to the first one, this one is high energy, chaotic, and full of pop-culture references. Maybe it’s because I knew what to expect coming in, but this one didn’t seem as over-the-top as the original. That’s both a good and bad thing. A lot of people liked the original because it was so energetic and crazy, however I think this one is more palatable for a wider range of people (especially adults). I think I actually liked this one more because it was toned down a little. It still is a movie that is highly geared towards kids and one that you will either love or hate. If you liked the first one, you will probably like this one as well. If you haven’t seen the first one, just expect a high energy, at times borderline annoying, kids movie. That isn’t supposed to mean that it is a bad movie, because it is entertaining, but it can push your buttons at times. Don’t take it too seriously and you will enjoy it more.
