Brief Review

A pseudo biography/satirical comedy of Vice President Dick Cheney and how powerful he was during his tenure as VP.

So clearly my rating can probably tip you off enough, but I basically hated this movie. In fact, I don’t think there was anything that I actually liked about it. While I’m not a huge fan of politics, that’s not at all what made me dislike this movie. The movie made me dislike this movie. First, it’s made in the same style as The Big Short, which is a hybrid between a satire and a biography. Basically it tries to use the ridiculousness of a situation and over emphasize it. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work with this movie. The weird cut scenes don’t add anything and make the movie feel almost unprofessional. Next, maybe the movie is actually pretty truthful, but it seems so exaggerated and biased that it is hard to see it as anything else. It felt like you were just listening to your overly political Uncle’s views, except in movie form. Finally, I just don’t think the material was interesting. The premise sounded kind of interesting to me, but it ended up just being a story of how a guy normally rose through the political ranks and then tried to secure more power. There wasn’t anything interesting to it. I basically hated this movie. Skip it, go get a voluntary root canal instead.

I guess I lied earlier, there was actually one scene I liked in the movie. Like this longer review (tirade?), if you make it through (I warned you), watch the mid credits scene, that’s actually pretty funny.
