Brief Review
A sequel to Creed and a spin-off of the Rocky movies, Apollo Creed’s son fights Ivan Drago’s son in a true family feud. Sure the title is different, but this is a Rocky movie through and through. And no one watches Rocky movies for complex and unpredictable stories. You watch them for entertainment and the inspiration aspects of it. Yeah the story is predictable, and no it doesn’t change much of the typical Rocky formula, but it is well done nonetheless. I will say that it did almost feel too much like a Rocky movie. There was not a lot that was actually added to make this one unique. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t a good movie in its own right, it just feels familiar. It is not the same, but it definitely rhymes. While this one might fall slightly short of the original Creed, it is still an entertaining and inspirational movie. Fans of the Rocky movies likely won’t be let down. Don’t overthink it and this is an enjoyable movie. You might also find yourself signing up for boxing classes afterwards.
