Brief Review
A famous musician and a struggling artist fall in love and as her career begins to take off, their relationship struggles. The first thing I have to say is that the trailer for this movie is slightly misleading. It definitely hints at the nature of the movie, but I still walked away from the trailer thinking it was a happy-go-lucky love story. The movie has a darker tone than the trailer would have you believe. With that being said, this is a really good movie that I enjoyed a lot. Although, I don’t know if I would necessarily watch it again. I say that because you should probably watch this with a box of tissues on hand. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper have some really good chemistry and the movie really has some very cute moments. On the other hand, the second half of the movie focuses on their hardships and struggles. It becomes much more complex than most romantic movies. You end up liking some parts and at the same time disliking other parts of the characters, which is what really makes this better than most romantic movies. I will say that it feels like the movie wants you to feel bad for people who find fame though. Finally, the soundtrack throughout the movie is excellent and at the very least, you will likely be listening to the music after the movie ends. Overall I thought this was a very good movie and even though my expectations going into it were misguided, this is both a cute and emotional movie that I think most would enjoy. And remember, bring tissues.
