Brief Review
Solo is the second spin-off story in the new Star Wars universe (the first being Rogue One) and serves as an origin story for Han Solo. This movie had a tough task in recasting one of the most iconic movie characters of all time, so it is understandable that many die-hard fans have issues with it. The movie itself is really just a heist movie in a Star Wars costume. It never really tries to be anything more than that. While the movie borders on being pointless, it is a fun standalone film with a lot of fast-paced heist scenes. If it were not a Star Wars movie, it likely would be viewed much more favorably. Unfortunately the weight of the brand brings this one down. I didn’t love it, but overall it was worth the watch. There are plenty of little details for the true star wars fans, but for everyone else, this is a fine heist movie.
