Brief Review
Melissa McCarthy plays a stereotypical overprotective mother who goes back to college after her husband divorces her. Luckily for the movie, Melissa McCarthy is genuinely funny. If it wasn’t for her, this movie could have been pretty bad. The story as a whole is kind of endearing, but it is totally impractical. I’m pretty confident nearly zero daughters would willingly let their mom join their sorority. However, the movie uses this and every other stereotype that you could think of involved with a mom returning to college to provide laughs. There are definitely some genuinely funny moments, you will just have to look past the impracticality of it all. Fans of Melissa McCarthy will definitely enjoy this movie. Overall, it was good for a few laughs and I’m not upset I saw it, but there are better comedies.
