Brief Review
After monsters that hunt based on sound have wiped out most of the population, a family is forced to survive in near silence. Although this movie is technically a horror movie, I would really classify it as a thriller. I don’t like horror movies, so rest assured this movie is more thriller than horror. The objective of the movie isn’t to simply scare you. So while there are some elements of a horror movie, there’s a story to tell here. Because the family is forced to live in near silence, there are points in the movie that have very little sound. It uses silence as a way to build suspense and makes the movie a very different sensory experience… one that is probably best experienced at a movie theater without other distractions. I really enjoyed this totally unique experience. Overall I thought the movie was very close to being very good. Unfortunately, the last quarter of the movie didn’t totally live up to the rest of the movie, but overall it was still a solid thriller. Not quite as good as Get Out, but a similar type of movie and along the same lines. Definitely worth a watch.
