Brief Review
Blockers is a raunchy comedy that focuses on the parents of three high school seniors who make a pact to lose their virginity on prom night. Underneath the comedy, it’s really a coming-of-age movie that focuses on how parents deal with their children entering adulthood. I had fairly low expectations for this movie going into it, but it totally surprised me. It was much funnier than I expected it to be and John Cena proved that he can be a legitimate comedic actor. He was really the standout in this movie. The three main characters are all exaggerated in their personalities and a lot of the humor relies on this, but for the most part it continues to draw laughs. There are some genuinely laugh out loud moments, some raunchy and some not. Fair warning, there are some pretty raunchy moments in this movie. The plot is fairly ridiculous, but it is redeemed by the many heartfelt moments and actual lessons that characters learn throughout the movie. Overall this movie was a surprisingly funny raunchy comedy. I would watch it again.
