Brief Review
Based on the popular video game series and a remake of the 2001 film, Tomb Raider tells the story of Lara Croft as she follows clues left behind by her missing father. Think of this movie as a more grown up version of National Treasure or a female version of Indiana Jones. You can tell that they adapted it from a video game as a lot of the action scenes feel slightly stylized. However, the action scenes are pretty good and are entertaining to watch. Alicia Vikander does a good job playing the tough and gritty Lara Croft. Outside of her though, most of the other characters are rather forgettable. The plot largely is pretty bland and predictable. There is little in this movie outside of the action scenes, it really could have used either more comedy or more depth to the plot. It was an entertaining movie while I was watching it, yet it provided very few truly memorable moments. Overall, I enjoyed it, but there are many better actions films that this. I likely won’t watch it again.
