Brief Review
Black Panther follows the newly crowned king of a super advanced African country as a vengeful outsider challenges his claim. As a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I definitely enjoyed this movie. You do not have to have seen all of the other Marvel movies to enjoy this one. Black Panther operates as a standalone movie that has tie-ins with the MCU. While it is definitely a superhero movie, it is a lot more about culture then other superhero movies. Deeply rooted in African culture with the visuals, music and characters, this movie is a refreshing addition to the superhero genre. I will say that I don’t totally agree with the universal praise that it has gotten. I think it is slightly over-hyped. It was definitely a good movie, but not one of the best Marvel movies. Overall this movie is a solid one and definitely worth seeing, but don’t expect it to be the best super hero movie you have ever seen.
