Brief Review
The Post follows The Washington Post as they work to uncover the infamous Pentagon Papers while battling against the Reagan administration for their 1st Amendment right. Maybe I was just expecting too much because of the two lead actors, but I left feeling slightly underwhelmed. Not to say the movie wasn’t a good one, I did enjoy it, but I thought it could have been better. A lot of this movie’s appeal is in how incredibly timely it is (in 2017/2018). At times the movie felt a little too political and your own political views might influence your final opinion. As expected, Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks do a very good job and are the real strength to the movie. Overall, this is a solid film that is probably best seen closer to its release date due to its timely nature, but it is one that will hold up well for some time.
