Brief Review
Lady Bird is a coming of age story that follows Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson as she navigates her final year of high school, her friends, her family, and the college application process. Where Lady Bird really shines, is in its realism. The story feels like it very well could be about any teenager that you know. The way it is written, any teenager, or parent with a teenager can relate to it. There is also never a moment where the movie feels unrealistic. At times you can easily forget that you are watching a Hollywood movie. The movie does an excellent job condensing the yearlong emotional roller coaster that high school seniors go through into a quick hour and a half movie. For those that have already experienced this phase of life, whether as a high schooler, a parent or even both, this movie will have you reminiscing on your own experiences.
