Brief Review
For having an all-star cast, this movie totally was totally underwhelming for me. My biggest issue was that it was kind of stuck between genres. It was more of a comedy than anything, but had little in the way of actual jokes. Most of the comedy from the movie came from typical stereotypes of southerners and people from West Virginia. However, they weren’t really emphasized enough to actually poke fun at the stereotypes. The movie also tried to be a heartwarming story of a struggling father who pulls off a heist to provide for his family, but this element was always stuck in the background. The real saving grace came at the end when it added a twist ending that was added a layer of complexity to the rest of the plot. Overall, this movie would have been better off being a true heist movie that had humor, instead of the other way around. I would call this movie OK, but I won’t be watching it again.
