Brief Review
All The Money In The World depicts the true story of the kidnapping and ransom negotiations of billionaire J. Paul Getty’s grandson. A solid movie that follows a desperate mother’s attempt to convince her cheap billionaire father-in-law to pay her son’s ransom. To most people, not paying a family members ransom as a billionaire sounds ludicrous. However, these events are exactly what a mother was faced with. Part family drama, part kidnapping drama, All The Money is an entertaining film that falls just short of being a totally gripping thriller. While the movie isn’t as intense as it could have been, the internal family struggle as well as the negotiations with the kidnappers provide for enough drama to make this film worthwhile. Most notably, Charles Plummer’s performance after replacing Kevin Spacey on short notice was excellent. Without the media surrounding it, it would have been impossible to notice that he wasn’t the original choice. All The Money In The World is a solid drama and entertaining film, even though it will probably be more remembered for its reshoots.
