Brief Review
The only area where Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri struggles is the title (seriously the title is too long). While listed as a comedy, the movie is much more of drama that expertly uses comedy to lighten the mood. Three Billboards is a dark and emotional drama that follows the events of a small Missouri town after a grieving mother publicly humiliates the local police department after their inability to find her daughter’s murderer. These billboards then cause a ripple effect across the town that uncover hidden problems that have silently existed. Frances McDormand does an excellent job portraying a grieving but strong mother as she fights for what she believes in. Excellent acting, deep characters, and well-developed story lines make this one of the best movies of 2017.
