Brief Review
In reality, The Last Jedi falls somewhere between the glowing reviews from critics and the scathing reviews from many fans. For any franchise as beloved as Star Wars there will always be polarized fans. The Last Jedi (TLJ) ultimately plays out exactly as it is, a middle film in a trilogy. The movie is slightly slow through the first half, however the final act is very memorable and does a good job of both moving the trilogy forward, while also setting up for the finale. While there are definitely some issues with plot lines and timing, the overall plot of the movie is engaging and does a good job of both answering some questions from The Force Awakens as well as still leaving some questions unanswered. TLJ touches on interesting themes revolving around good/bad, with many of the main characters struggling with that line. Character wise many continue to develop while others are seemingly thrown away or make no significant strides. Visually TLJ has plenty of good special effects with a few that are simply amazing. Ultimately, The Last Jedi is not the best film in the franchise, but it is definitely an entertaining movie that is worth seeing.
