Brief Review
Jason Bourne returns after years of hiding to figure out how he began in the secretive CIA spy program. I am a huge fan of the first three Bourne movies (Ultimatum is one of my favorite movies) so I was really disappointed in this movie. The first three (I’m ignoring Bourne Legacy because it doesn’t have Matt Damon) were very interesting spy movies with high intensity action scenes. This movie is much slower paced which totally changes the dynamic. They traded in the fight scenes for computer hacking scenes. Maybe it is just me me, but watching people type on keyboards isn’t nearly as fun as watching people punch each other in the face. This series has always been enjoyable due to the blend of his superior spy skills and watching his frenetic fight scenes. This movie just doesn’t have enough of either the cool spy skills or the intense fight scenes. Additionally, the plot is pretty blah and honestly not very memorable. Also, I’m not sure Matt Damon says over 100 words the whole movie, it is a little odd. Unfortunately the movie just doesn’t work that well. While it isn’t a bad movie, I wouldn’t rewatch it like I have the others in the series.
