Brief Review
I haven’t seen the original Mad Max movies, so I am still not entirely sure if this movie is a sequel or a reboot. I’m leaning towards a reboot. Also for a movie called Mad Max, the main character really isn’t even Max. Charlize Theron kind of steals his thunder.
Considering this movie got universal praise, I didn’t love it. I definitely thought this was an entertaining movie to watch, I just don’t think it is as great as all of the other reviews make it seem. My biggest issue with this movie is that it really boils down to one really long scene. Sure other things happen, but for all intents and purposes, this movie is a really long car chase. However, it is set in such a chaotic, dystopian world that everything in the movie is very interesting (I loved the flame thrower guitar guy). The entire movie is action packed, loud, and high intensity, so you’re constantly engaged in it. Maybe you have to have seen the other movies to truly love this movie. But for me, it was an entertaining couple of hours, not the classic that others seem to think.
