Brief Review
An uptight TV producer who deeply believes in true love is assigned to a morning show hosted by a chauvinistic male with a crass view on relationships. The Ugly Truth is basically what can go very wrong with a rom-com. It is a romantic comedy with very little romance and very little comedy. It just follows every single cliché and stereotype of romantic comedies, with very little success. This movie probably couldn’t even be made today because of how stereotypical the characters are. I bet if this movie came out today there would be an uproar over it. I think the writers set out to try and write the most cliché characters and story possible. After about 8 minutes of the movie, you already know everything that is going to happen. That doesn’t automatically make it a bad movie, but it barely even plays out in an enjoyable way. I’m sure there were a couple times I chuckled or a few scenes that I liked, but overall not much positive to say. The Ugly Truth isn’t worth the time, skip it.
