Brief Review

After a major drug bust, two Miami police detectives investigate the theft of a huge heroin shipment from inside the police station. Bad Boys was disappointing for me. I really like both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence so I was pretty excited for this. Unfortunately, it was kind of a let down. Firstly, the mix of action and comedy was very surprising to me. Really the lack of mix. Bad Boys is almost solely focused on action at the expense of the comedy. For example, the movie was basically 75% explosions and gun fights. Don’t get me wrong, I like explosions and gun fights, but it wasn’t at all what I was expecting. The lack of comedy was just very disappointing to me. For instance, you would expect a movie with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as the leads to be a pretty funny movie. It has all the makings of a funny movie, but it just isn’t. Then on top of that, the plot is entirely forgettable. There was literally nothing special or unique about the story. It is just your average buddy cop movie with more explosions. Overall, Bad Boys was a let down for me. It isn’t necessarily bad, it just didn’t live up to my expectations at all. I wouldn’t watch it again.
